Do you ever struggle to get through the day due to tiredness and exhaustion, but when it comes to bedtime you lie wide awake while your brain is racing around what feels like an unstoppable 100mph? Welcome to the world of thinkers.

People who prefer to think and listen rather than speak are generally careful and considerate individuals. They think before they speak and choose their words carefully before sharing their thoughts with anybody. There are pros and cons to this type of personality.
Pros
Less likely to offend others
Better at expressing how they feel
Cons
Tend to keep things to themselves
Harder to open up to others
Struggle to make casual friends
As thinkers may find it more challenging to share their true feelings, that's when their brains get a bit clogged up at times. This can be a very frustrating experience and can potentially lead to being stuck in a loop.
For me, this always happens at night, generally when I get into bed and try to sleep. This is the worst time for your hundreds of thoughts to surface because once it starts, it's very difficult to stop.
Solution
The thing I do that works for me is emptying my thoughts down onto paper (or digitally on your phone or tablet if you prefer). I've always loved to write and have had many diaries and journals in my life. This is usually the only way to understand what all the jumbled ideas in my head mean.
What To Write?
You don't have to immediately know what to write when you start. Just get yourself a pen and notebook, and just start writing. If you struggle to start, then write that down as a starting point. It can begin with something like "I don't know what to write. I've read that writing things down help with getting a clearer picture, so here I am writing."
Don't worry about your handwriting or grammar when you're just unloading your thoughts, because it makes no difference and nobody is going to read what you write other than yourself, unless you want to share it with others. But I find that the more private you can keep your journal, the more open and personal it becomes, which is ultimately what you want to achieve.
Be persistent
If something still doesn't come to mind, then just keep writing down whatever comes to your mind at that moment in time. You could even write that this idea is silly and you don't know why you're doing this, but just keep going.
Consistency
It may be a page or two, or three before anything significant gets written on your piece of paper. Maybe the first few times of you sitting down nothing relevant comes out, but that's still a starting point to get you going and comfortable with the idea of writing.
Dedication
Dedicate some time every day to just allow your thoughts to free-flow onto paper, and the more natural the writing becomes, the more you will start to explore deeper into your mind.
Conclusion
There's no right or wrong way to start writing and you need to feel comfortable opening up to yourself. Nobody needs to read what you write down, this is personal to you. Understanding this can help you completely open up without anyone finding out about your true and deepest thoughts, and that is the most helpful way to explore how you truly feel within.
Just get started, what do you have to lose!?
