Are you looking to buy the Garmin Forerunner 255, but unsure if you should get the Forerunner 255 or the Forerunner 255S? I am going to tell you the reasons why I chose the size I did and what works for me on my small wrist.
Forerunner 255S Vs 255 Specifications
| Size | Weight | Battery Life |
Forerunner 255S | 41mm | 39g | Up to 12 Days |
Forerunner 255 | 46mm | 49g | Up To 14 Days |
Wrist Size
My wrist is only about 6 inches in circumstance, 15.5 cm to be precise. I don't think I have a big wrist and looking on some size charts online my wrist size is classed as small. I love big watches so it made sense for me to go for the bigger Forerunner 255 version. It has taken me a long time to decide on the size to purchase, because I couldn't find any shops in the UK that sold them or had them on display to try on.
Comparison With Casio G-Shock
In my mind I was thinking it would be the size of a chunky Casio G-Shock watch, which I love the size of, but when I opened the box of the Garmin Forerunner 255, it looked and felt like a very small watch to me and on me.
When I was doing research on this
particular sports watch, I couldn't find any pictures or videos of someone with a small wrist wearing it, or talking about the sizing. Most girls seem to go for the Forerunner 255S.
Battery Life
Another reason I went for the Forerunner 255 is the bigger battery life, claiming to last up to 14 days once fully charged. I manage to get around a week and a half before having to plug the watch in, but I do have all smartwatch features turned off, so it helps with making the battery last longer.
Forerunner 245 vs 255
The size of the previous version - Forerunner 245 is between the Forerunner 255S and Forerunner 255. I did manage to hold a Forerunner 245 display model against my wrist and that's when I know the Forerunner 255S is going to be too small for my liking.

Colour Choices
1. Preference
Some of you might just prefer a smaller watch. This comes down to personal preference and I have had comments from friends and colleagues that they think the Forerunner 255 looks big on my wrist.
2. Tiny Wrist
You may have a tiny wrist or a wrist a lot smaller than mine, and a big watch would look ridiculously large on you. As mentioned above, I feel like most girls tend to go for the Forerunner 255S smaller version, but I have also seen men choose the smaller size. There's no right or wrong in this.
3. Battery Life
There isn't much difference in terms of battery life between the Forerunner 255S and 255, so if you aren't that bothered about the extra battery life that comes with the larger version, then the 255S is going to be more than enough for what you need it for.
4. Colour Choices
You might prefer a certain colour that only comes in the Forerunner 255S version. Both sizes in the music version comes in either black or while, but if you want a watch in Light Pink or Powder Grey then those colours are only available in the 255S version.
